So I visited Charleston, SC! Funny thing is, it’s never been on my list of places to travel but when I found myself traveling there for work, I figured whey not stay for the weekend. To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive with all of the history tied to Charleston and the fairly recent events… but after doing my research, that subsided a bit and I decided to just go for it.
Now this is where Charleston shines! I did not have a bad meal the entire time I was there.. the food was amazing. Below are the places we ate and some of my entrees. Fleet Landing was by far my favorite, if you visit Charleston you have to try the fish and grits!
Fleet Landing
Oyster House
Toast
Ink N Ivy
Rita’s
Piece Pie
While in Charleston, I stayed in 2 different places. The first was Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Waterfront, which was really nice and modern. The location is good as it is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Charleston, but overall a great hotel, I’d definitely stay there again.
The second was Aloft Charleston Airport & Convention Center. This hotel I would not recommend! Though at first sight it looks okay, when I got settled in my room, I realized that it was old and in need of some repairs and renovations. On top of that, the hotel was far from the city center, maybe about 20 mins.
**I know the videos are a little rough, but I didn’t take any pictures so this was all I had, sorry…
To find out what to do in Charleston, I pulled out good ol’ Pinterest and I found a ton. As I’ve said before, I’m not really a partier, so I mostly look for historical sites, hikes, bodies of water, farmer’s markets, etc. If that’s the time of things you’re into, Charleston would be a nice place to visit. Also, from what I could see, Charleston has pretty good nightlife.. I would say try King Street.
